The 8th Louis Vuitton Cup will be held in San Diego, United States of America in 2013. The winner will go on to challenge for the 2013 America's Cup.[1]
The teams
Original Challenger of Record Club Nautico di Roma and Club Canottieri Roggero di Lauria withdrew, leaving seven named challengers. These are shown below, in the order in which they applied.[2]
Artemis Racing (SWE)
The challenger of record, Artemis Racing represents the Royal Swedish Yacht Club and is led by Paul Cayard.
Emirates Team New Zealand (NZL)
Led by Grant Dalton and skippered by Dean Barker, Team New Zealand won the Louis Vuitton Cup in 1995 and 2007.
Aleph-Equipe de France (FRA)
Aleph were founded in 2009 for the Louis Vuitton Trophy.
Energy Team (FRA)
Energy Team is led by Bruno and Loïck Peyron.
China Team (CHN)
China Team is competing in their second Louis Vuitton Cup.
Team Korea (KOR)
Team Korea is the first challenge ever from South Korea.
Green Comm Racing (ESP)
Green Comm Racing is a Spanish team.
Luna Rossa Challenge (ITA)
Round robin
- Three series (S1-S3) will be held;
- Series 1 will consist of four fleet races. The winner will score 10 points, 6 points for second place and 2 points for third place. No points are awarded for subsequent places.
- Series 2 is a round robin. The winner of each race will score 10 points, the loser no points.
- Series 3 is a round robin. The winner of each race will score 12 points, the loser no points.
